How do you switch the phone functions off but keep the rest of your iPhone functioning? Go to Settings and turn on Airplane mode. Everything will work but the phone portion of your iPhone!

iPhone WiFi Purchase Patent Granted To Apple
Forbes is reporting that Apple has been granted a patent that will allow iPhone owners to purchase just about anything you want using your iPhone. You will be able to buy theater tickets, goods, groceries, clothes, and other merchandise without having to stand in line at your local store. You'll be able to order a coffee from your seat in an internet (wifi connected) cafe, a meal from Burger King from your car for pickup through the drive-thru or a new TV at Circuit City and have it waiting for you at customer pick-up? All will be possible with the new patent granted to Apple and Apple has already created the software to do this specific to the iPhone. If you thought the recent Starbucks deal was cool then you can expect many many consumer businesses to announce they too offer iPhone purchases. BTW, the patent is tied directly to OS X.
