More OS/2 Users Switch To MacsA recent survey notes the majority of former OS/2 users have moved to the OS X or Mac platform over any other operating system. This is good news for Apple and bad news for Microsoft who has been courting OS/2 users for years now. Poor Linux. Few, if any, former OS/2 users have chosen Linux over OS X. The problem there is the learning curve. With OS X the OS/2 user is able to pick right up where he/she left off with OS/2 while the Linux user has to spend months, even years, learning how to use Linux to normal advantage.
QTrax to offer free songs - sort of
A P2P file sharing service is relaunching its website with the blessing of the recording industry and all songs will be free, paid for by advertising revenue the user will have to wade through repeatedly to get the song of choice. Oh wait, did I mention every song will include DRM to ensure the downloader won't be able to move or transfer that song to any other computer? And QTrax will track any downloaded songs to ensure you don't break their DRM and pass the song along to your iPhone or your iPod or your MP3 player... Not much of a free service there, huh?
How To Secure Your MacBook From Theft?
Another way to "secure" your laptop that I use is a little freeware program called iAlertu it even can be set to take a picture using the iSight camera and email it to the email of your choice... so if I'm at work and someone is messing with my macbook I get an email letting me know... it also has a password protected screen lock that sets off a car-like alarm that can't be disabled... it's a fun little program to add a little extra peace of mind...
More Problems For Hacked iPhones
The latest jailbreak for version 1.1.3 are keeping it quiet because they don't want their small group of followers to figure it out just yet - but ... come February when Apple releases the SDK and a slew of new authorized applications (voice dialing, video recording, GPS plugins, games galore and more) are offered to iPhone users, those authorized apps are only going to run on unhacked iPhones. The component on the iPhone/iTouch responsible for allowing authorized applications on the hardware is called Nikita and the JailBreak for v1.1.3 breaks Nikita. Lessee, would you rather have applications that are tested verified to work on your iPhone or would you rather use an iPhone that can't run anything right, is open to malware and other calamities and is sure to cause you problems down the road. Sounds like a no brainer there but then again, there are people with absoutely no brains out there.

MacBook Air Arrives Tuesday
Apple Stores will start selling MacBook Airs directly from their stores come Tuesday morning. The machines arrived this past Friday and Saturday but product banners and visuals and the machine itself will not go up and be sold until Tuesday. Get in line! The MacBook Air is expected to sell very well based on the fact that it has already hit Amazon's best-selling notbook page. People have preordered in the droves.
