OS/2 Users Suffer From Greedy Vendors
It is noted that eComStation 2.0 RC4 was released back in late December yet it is unavailable to the handful of OS/2 users without paying for a high-cost software subscription service. Unlike other software vendors outside the OS/2 community who offer their updates, new software and older programs for free - that never happens in the wee OS/2 community. Vendors know that those clinging to the life of OS/2 are totally dependent upon them and that means cash in the palm for any thing being offered any more. Sad that the few OS/2 users are too reticent to simply say "no mas" and move on to more up-to-date operating systems like OS X.

In all seriousness, if these so-called OS/2 vendors wanted to see the proliferation of OS/2 they would jump through hoops and hand out their products for free. Once a solid base of OS/2 users were alive and kicking they could then ask for nominal fees. They would never do that of course. Too greedy.

MacBook Pro Updates Soon
Although there has been no news from Apple regarding the update of MacBook Pros with the new Penryn chip and additional Multi-touch trackpad options, there is evdidence surfacing that an updated MacBook Pro will be offered soon. The evidence is tied to the system identifier label and the notation of a new entry for the MacBook Pro appearing in the tracking logs. The new identifier was obtained automatically from the MacBook Pro system and it appears Apple is testing the new updated MacBook Pros. The last update to the MacBook Pro was back on November 1, 2007, when Apple added a 2.6GHz option and a 250G hard drive but this update was not considered a true update. The MacBook Pro, on average, has been updated around every 186 days and we are currently on day 239 so it is do for an update.

iWork '08 Updated
Apple has quietly released updates to the three programs of iWork '08 - Pages, Numbers and Keynote. iWork ’08 can import Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel and AppleWorks word processing, presentation and spreadsheet files, and can export documents in Microsoft Office file formats or PDFs for easy sharing. The applications found in iWork '08 are designed to be much easier to use then those found in Microsoft Office. If you have a copy of iWork '08 installed click on the software update in your Apple dropdown and you should get the latest updates.

iPhone Price Cut
Rumors are running that due to the poor ecomony and the slow down in sales of the iPhone, Apple may reduce the price of the iPhone soon. If you plan on buying an iPhone you might want to wait another 30 days or so.

Leopard 10.5.2 Release Imminent
We keep waiting and we keep hearing that Apple has the next update to Leopard, v10.5.2, sitting in the wings and ready for release. It should be any day now.
