OS/2 Community Shoots Self Again
Once more the sickest handful of wingnuts who dawdle in the OS/2 newsgroups have fired another shot into the dead body of OS/2. Few real OS/2 users exist anymore, much less hang out in the OS/2 newsgroups. It is the radical Linux and Vista lovers who claim to have OS/2 on their computers. If they do, they don't use it for anything public because everyone of their headers reveals Linux or Microsoft operating systems. And thus far the wingnuts are proving themselves to be just as disfunctional and mentally sick as we all discovered soon after their arrival. It is always gratifying to know that first impressions are confirmed time and again.

SDK News
Much information provided at the SDK Announcement Event today.
- The SDK is a beta and not the final final release.
- SDK to require Mac OS X (Windows developers are left out of loop).
- EAG and Gameloft first to offer iPhone game titles.
- Sling Media, MySpace, Google all had SDK weeks ago.
- The iPhone will continue to be locked and the only 3rd party apps you can run are the ones approved by Apple.
- iPhone has 28% market share, Safari has 71% market share for mobile browser.
- Next release of iPhone software will provide: push contacts, global address list, Cisco IPsec VPN, authentication and certs, enterprise class WiFi (WPA2 / 802.1x), security policies, enterprise configuration tools, and remote wipe - all for Enterprise customers.
- MS Exchange will be built into the iPhone, Activesync for iPhone has been licensed.
- SDK uses same programming language and interface for OS X and now a new API that adds touchscreen input.
- Comes with iPhone Simulator so developers can test and optimize their apps on OS X.
- OS X remains the core of the iPhone, kernel optimized to work with reduced resources of handsets
- $100 to join iPhone Developer Program. SDK free for download.
- Sega, known for high graphics, had to scale up their own graphics for iPhone - iPhone highest graphic display
- New iPhone icon - "App Store" - go there to buy and download your iPhone apps. Many free.
- Developers get 70% of app price they set while Apple gets 30% to cover cost of App Store.
- Apple encourages all developers to make their apps FREE!
- iPhone software update in June to version 2.0 - it is free.
- Every app for iPhone will run on iTouch. ALL iTouch apps will have a nominal fee.
- iFund will offer $100,000,000 to fund companies to develop for Apple.
- Apple encourages development of VOIP over WiFi
- Unlocked iPhones will be banned from App Store
